AMA Bylaws provide the opportunity for additional nominees to be proposed through a petition process. A petition for a member nominee must contain signatures by at least two percent of members who are eligible to vote. AMA Past President Named AU40 Finalist
We’re thrilled to announce that Austin AMA past president Stacy Armijo was recently selected as a finalist for the Austin Under 40 (AU40) Awards in the marketing, advertising and public relations category. Stacy is VP at Pierpont Communications and is a member of the Professional Chapters Council of the American Marketing Association. Cheers to you, Stacy! We wish you the best of luck. The AU40 Awards Gala is hosted by the Austin Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) and Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) to recognize emerging Austinites who excel professionally and exhibit a strong commitment community service. Each month the Austin Chapter recognizes an AMA member who exemplifies outstanding leadership within the chapter.
April – Andrea Wallace
HCB Health
Andrea Wallace most recently served as a senior account executive in the Health and Social Marketing practice at Porter Novelli. During her time at Porter Novelli, she served several healthcare and consumer clients. Her roster included Piedmont Healthcare, Clean Air Campaign, CDC’s Arthritis Program, Asbury Automotive Group and Ferrari Maserati of Atlanta. Prior to joining Porter Novelli, Andrea was the spokeswoman for Gwinnett Medical Center, a 629-bed, not-for-profit healthcare system providing a wide array of high-quality services and facilities to Gwinnett and the surrounding areas of Georgia. Her primary roles included external communications, community relations, crisis communications, media relations and physician relations among other service line marketing initiatives.
Andrea received her associate’s degree in communications from the University of Alabama and soon after obtained her bachelor’s degree in communications and mass media from Florida State University, with a minor in broadcast journalism. She has spent the last seven years in the media and public relations industry having worked as a reporter for several broadcast networks and public relations agencies, both regionally and globally, before she began at Gwinnett Medical Center four years ago. At her previous job on a daily basis, Andrea served as the head spokesperson for the 629-bed hospital system and executed crisis communications, developed public relations campaigns, produced a local television program and planned sponsorship placements and community events.
She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and in the future she hopes to grow into other media industries by using her time as a PR professional and a broadcaster to freelance. Andrea developed several grassroots initiatives with local TV networks garnering several thousands of dollars of free publicity for her clients. Along with Andrea’s professional accomplishments is her active extracurricular profile. In her free time, she likes to do hot yoga, cook, play tennis and travel.
March – Nelson Flores

Nelson has 11 years of video, web and software development experience that makes him a strong asset at ProductionFor. His web and video projects includes clients such as AMD, Motorola, Hitachi, Dell and Callaway Golf where managed the production of three Callaway Golf Interactive commercials that were aired during the 2008 Masters. He started his career as a theatre major at The University of Texas – Pan American and at Dynacon Software as a Software Support Technician where quickly work his way up the ranks. When he’s not producing videos for his clients Nelson likes to be involved in the local theatre scene. Nelson has directed and acted in several community theatre projects in and around Austin. He is married to his high school sweet heart for 14 years and they have four children.

Director of Audience Development
Abby is a native of Columbus, Ohio and is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. She has been with American City Business Journals for almost six years, starting with the Washington Business Journal in Washington, D.C. before joining the Austin Business Journal as the Director of Audience Development in 2010. Abby enjoys exploring the Austin area and spending time with her husband, Josh, and two labs Killian and Stella.
