Dear AMA Austin Members,

It has been a truly eventful first quarter at AMA Austin, and I'm thrilled to share the highlights with you. In August, we hosted a highly successful members-only appreciation summer mixer on the river. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our members to connect and enjoy the beautiful Austin scenery.

In September, our Career Advancement Power Hour was a hit. Attendees had the chance to have their headshots professionally taken for their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, adding a polished touch to their professional presence.

We also had the pleasure of engaging with our collegiate members at both Texas State University and St. Edwards. Their enthusiasm and engagement at their respective universities left us pleasantly surprised and excited for the future of our AMA community.

Our in-person Marketing Morning coffee meetups continue to grow, with increased attendance. These meetups, held every third Wednesday of the month at Easy Tiger North or South, offer valuable networking opportunities and industry insights. This month's Marketing Morning will be held at Easy Tiger South.

All these activities tie into our two main strategic objectives for this AMA year. We're committed to providing our members with regular, relevant, and engaging events where you can network, connect with like-minded professionals, and stay updated on industry knowledge and trends. Our event calendar is planned out until June 2024, and we're particularly excited about our upcoming events, including "Marketing Horror Stories" in October 2023 and "2024: A Look Ahead" on November 16.

One of the incredible benefits of being an AMA member is our career portal. The AMA National Career portal offers a vast array of job opportunities, with 1,575 available jobs on the marketing job board and 1,146 on the academic job board. You can explore the Austin AMA job board here. Additionally, the career planning portal provides resources such as resume reviews and valuable insights, from mastering interview body language to crafting an impressive resume. These resources are here to support your career growth.

If you're not an AMA member yet and want to join our vibrant community, you can sign up on our website.

I'm looking forward to our next Coffee Meetup and the chance to connect with you all in person.

Best Wishes,
Francois Marais
AMA Austin President

A Virtual Event!

In Marketing, nothing ever goes according to plan. And when things go wrong, that's when the best marketing professionals get to work and navigate those uncomfortable waters. How we respond to a difficult situation will often determine our brand's reputation more than the actual disaster itself.

In the spirit of spooky season, AMA Austin is bringing together a group of PR, Marketing and Horror Movie experts for a light-hearted discussion of marketing challenges and ways to overcome those obstacles when terror strikes your organization.

Partnerships

Purpose Partnership

On the Contrary!

When we recently partnered with A Purpose Partnership as our agency of record, we did so because they are not your typical business and marketing consulting firm. In fact, they are often called, “contrarian."

An agency where the owner/principals pitch the client then let the staff do the work, APP is a partner with their clients, not only signing them, but then doing the work and staying in contact with them on a weekly basis. They are strategists that do the work.

The APP team has more than 175 years of combined experience, and a social media footprint of more than 100,000 direct connections.

APP team members are subject matter experts in their respective fields - from digital marketing and website development to public relations, DEI, and social media marketing.

Plus, they have just launched a speakers bureau, to represent thought leaders and influencers. The bureau secures engagements, handles all the logistics, and allows speakers to only have to worry about what they are passionate about - speaking.
